The Teen Years Are Hard. If your Daughter is struggling, I can help.

counselling for teen girls

Anxiety. This might be related to friendships, school pressures, changing identity, or many other reasons. Living in such a digital world brings challenges that previous generations never had to face.

Navigating adolescence as a neurodivergent young person. I have a special interest in working with teen girls who have diagnosed or suspected ADHD, who are autistic, or who have other neurodivergences. I am also neurodivergent myself, and so is my child. You're in good hands here.

Less common presentations that other therapists might not have insight into. Things like 'school can't', Situational Mutism (SM), symptoms of OCD, and PDA. I have both professional and lived experience of all of these, and understand how challenging they can be to navigate..

Some things I can support with:

Counselling can look different for teens. Sitting in a room and talking doesn't always feel comfortable.

Talking about their inner world can feel incredibly awkward for many teenagers. Because of this, I like to meet them where they'are at.

Currently, my teen sessions are conducted face-to-face only, on the Surf Coast (VIC). Rather than sit in some stuffy room and force your child to open up, we go somewhere they're comfortable and take the pressure off.

This might look like taking the dog for a walk, wandering along the beach, walking through a local nature reserve that feels familiar and safe, or hanging out at a cafe.

I take a strengths-based, person-centred approach to therapy with teens, just like I do with adults. Your daughter is respected as the expert on her own life. I simply arm her with the tools she might be missing.

Your daughter can find her way through these challenging years. She just needs some extra support.

I can bill sessions privately, or via an NDIS plan, if you have one.

50 minute sessions cost $156.16, in line with the current guidelines for counselling via the NDIS. The price is the same whether you pay via a plan, or privately.

I have a session with you, the parent, before therapy commences, to make sure we are aligned on what to expect, and you feel completely comfortable.

Things to know:

So many parents find these years challenging. I have worked with so many families and schools over the years, running Tuning Into Teens programs, teaching, and working as a counsellor.

I know how huge this time can feel, for everyone in the family. I'm here to help your child feel seen, heard and deeply cared for during this time. Whoever they are, whatever they're struggling with, and however their brain works.
